Day Six - Around the Lake

Day Six - Spotting young Coots on the Lakeside

According to the RSPB website Coots have green status in this country

They are part of the Rail family and their Latin name is Fulica Atra

I can see that they have big feet and voracious appetites!

  1. I love their huge feet - so out of proportion to their body size - wherever there is water you will find coots - l love them and moorhens.

  2. Bald as a coot! These young coots don't look very bald to me! I used to get mixed up with coots and moorhens but believe that moorhens have red beaks? x
